Restoring the Oven
When we initially restored grandma Revecca’s home to form the winery in 2011, we had no use for the stone oven in the front yard. So, we simply stabilised it and refreshed its exterior.
While we can only estimate the oven’s age, we do know it hadn’t been used for at least 40 years. Judging by its size and the variety of bread-making tools found in the house, it’s clear that Revecca was quite the baker though.
This year, with the winery now actively welcoming guests, we decided it was time to restore the oven’s interior and fire it up once again.
THE itinerary
Pizza Party
One of the challenges of rural living, especially in the mountains, is the lack of delivery options. The upside is pizza nights here are a bit more special than just getting a pizza in a box.
Pizza nights mean friends and family gathered around the fire, sharing food straight from the oven. The baking process becomes a theatrical event, creating a truly memorable experience.
We want to host a vibrant evening at the winery, so you too can experience the charm of cooking with a traditional stone oven.
We’ve put together a pizza menu, accompanied by a selection of creative cocktails that showcase the versatility of Commandaria.
